probably going to some Tyson meat production factory for KFC, Tyson, etc...products....disgusting and such an atrocity.

Oh and look at that; a Burger King right there. What a coincidence. I wonder if the people in there buying their food saw that truck full of those poor hens drive by.

So sad that people actually support that. Although I don't really blame the people who don't know about it as much.

Those poor chickens. I don't know where we went wrong... treating living animals like commodities.

Omnivores Dilemma is an excellent book. Not preachy but very eye opening. It changed my life and how I feed my family.
And Food Inc made me cry - Something about seeing it and having to own up to my own food/meat habits.

If you'd like to check out a really well done indie documentary, see Fresh (fresh.com). Beautifully filmed and so motivating.

Is Temple Grandin out? I'm familiar with her and her work with McDonalds/Beef industry.

While consumers of course want humane treatment of animals, I'm not sure the majority are willing TO PAY the much higher prices that would result. Economies of scale. There's a reason you can buy chicken nuggets for $1.

We have found that by purchasing locally (we buy our meat by the animal) from farmers with transparent practices (I can visit anytime to see what's going on), we actually SAVE money, boost our local economy and support farmers who are doing good work. Win=win.
