Should I be concerned about these drooping feathers on the wings? I have had 2 chickens pass, just 3 weeks apart, and I can't figure out the cause.

Are you sure those aren’t feathers that are about to come off? My girls (12 weeks) get feathers like that and when they flap their wings the come out

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure. I'm new to raising chickens. This hen is 26 weeks.

Well welcome to the community! I’m also new myself! I would think by 26 weeks they would be done losing their “baby feathers” so I’m not sure! Let me tag some others to help ☺️

Any ideas?

I have had pullets who have had feathers like that. It is nothing to worry about! They are just a growing chicken. Some of them don't drop their wing feathers as fast as others, so they just hitch a ride for a little longer. Those feathers should fall off in time and they will be back to normal!

It is also possible she is just folding her wings up weird and her feathers catch in an odd way. Either way, I do not think it is something to worry about if you are not raising chickens for shows.

I wouldn't worry unless I saw signs that something was wrong.
If she lost her appetite, looked pale, or became lethargic, that would indicate a problem, such as lice or mites, but the feathers would not worry me.
