Droopy feathers?

My two 12-week old khaki campbells have feathers that droop down from their bodies, especially when wet. Is this normal? They didn't have this until I changed their feed, so I suspect it may have something to do with too much or too little protein. I don't know the amount of protein though.

Do the feathers stick out from the body at weird angles, or do they just droop straight down? At that age it could just be their blood feathers coming in, which are very heavy and will often cause them to have droopy wings for awhile. If they are sticking out oddly then that is angel wing and is caused by too much protein. It can be fixed if you change the diet and wrap the wings right away.

Can you post pics of the wings so we can help you figure out which issue it is?

Their wings are not droopy. Its their feathers by their legs that are droopy and they droop straight down.

Ah, ok. Sounds pretty normal to me, especially since you said they droop mostly just after bathing. I think you are just now seeing this because they are growing up and have gotten in their adult feathers now, so they look a little different than they used to. A picture would help though, just to be sure. :)

My ducks had the funniest droopy feathers. Their pen flooded and they were just having the time of their lives playing in the water and mud. But it was also right around freezing temps, so the mud froze to their bottom feathers in little balls of ice that kept getting bigger and bigger. It was quite comical. They were fine and dandy tho :)

Mine always end up with little ice balls all over their heads and back of their necks because they try to bathe in their drinking water and then it freezes. Silly ducks! I put them inside for awhile to thaw when that happens though, I'm an over-protective mother. lol!

I don't have the best camera, so you wouldn't be able to see the feathers. I hope you're right, but I'll decrease their protein just in case :)
