droopy wings while napping

3 days old. So I know the temp is not too hot. Thanks for your input!

Mine are 4 days old now. I was quite surprised to learn I needed to lower the temp a bit when they got pasty butt, because I painstakingly finally got the temp to a perfect 95. I lowered it to 90-92 and they are much happier even though they are only 4 days old as I said. 95 they seemed to swelter.

Thanks. No pasty butt yet...thankfully. I have been watching them carefully. I just posted another thread to try to get ideas on how to raise up my heat source. My brooder doesn't have high sides, therefore the light source is pretty close to them. A 60 watt bulb is keeping it that warm now. If I can find a good ( and safe!) way to raise the lamp, I might try that tonight.

Do you have it on a clamp on lamp? Mine needs to be higher than my sidewalls will allow, so what I have done is hang is from a doubled up wire on a hook on the wall, and I use the clamp portion to keep it away from the wall. It works perfectly, then I can just wind up the wire or unwind as the case may be to lower and raise the lamp. It works perfectly for me, but I have my brooder in a room where there is no chance of dogs or cats or kids bumping it, so it is secure. I know what you mean by needing it to be safe though...I installed a smoke detector directly above mine just in case!

Yes, I have a lamp just like that one. I will try to post a picture of where my brooder is tonight. It's on a piece of furniture on an empty wall. No hooks. I'd have to put a hole in the wall and it's in part of my kitchen so i really want to avoid that.
Thanks for this though. I appreciate it. I may do something like this if I have to move the brooder to a different spot!
