droopy wings

i opened them up today so they can walk all over the place now. What can i do for feeding and how much

I would keep them on a mainteance feed of around 16% protein. I always feed free-choice.

Wings always start drooping when the blood starts coming into them. So this is why exercise and running about flapping those wings is so good for them.....

The adult waterfowl or game bird feed maintenance is great for them to grow out with. Each person you talk to on here will feed differently. The best way is what makes you feel good about taking care and feeding your geese.

My geese free range all day long. But I feed them in the morning with food out in bowls for them to eat. Then they can go free range and enjoy the day. Then they come down here when it is time to go up for the evening to be fed and put up for the night.

Now when the grass starts browning out I start to feed the lettuce and other fruits to them and boy do they like the goodies. They also like watermelon.
Just thought I would let you know all the things you can also feed along with the maintenance feed. On the maize you can give it to them whenever you like....

It is when you over feed the growth starter feed too long that it can cause them to develop the wing problems.

Good luck and enjoy your Geese. But do make sure to put them up at night in a safe pen so that nothing can get at them.....

thanks guys, i only feed then maize in the evenings now when i close them in their ''camp" in the morning i open them to go about as they please. One more question, how do i get them to run around and flap their wings the big ones do it themselves but the 3 with droopy wings won't do it

Loulla they will as soon as they get use to being out free ranging. They will see the adults and will follow them on what they see. Plus when they start running the wings will come out and flap. If they follow you, you can run a little and see if they will follow you running and flapping them little wings!!!

I am careful about how much corn/maise I gave my birds (poultry). A corn based diet has been known to cause Niacin deficiencies in humans due to the niacin not being bio-available (look up Pellagra). I don't know if the same is true for the birds but I don't like to take chances.

hi everyone, i need help again. How far can a egyptian goose, 3 months old fly? 1 of them just took of this morning all alone and hasn't returned

They are capable of flying miles, although they usually don't. they usually will set down within a mile, but may be confused and not sure how to get home. Check any near by ponds or lakes,

Clint
