Hello, all! My chick is very weak, and their neck is just hanging down. They also keep falling asleep! What could be wrong with my chick? How can I help them?

I think electrolytes are a great place to start.

How old is your chick?
What do you feed?
How does the poop look?
About 2 months
We just switched to medicated feed Bc we’ve had issues with respiratory illness
A little watery. But I have her/him molasses Bc I read somewhere that it may help

Have you looked up Mareks disease?
I’ve been researching that and I know it can cause paralysis and if I remember correctly respiratory issues.

If it were me, I’d separate the chick, start electrolytes, vitamins, and just lots of TLC.

I hope someone with more experience comes along to help. I’m really no expert.

The only thing sold near me is vitamin and electrolyte water mix :( will that work? Thanks

I'm sorry your chick is not well.

Is it only one or are there more that are sick?
Can you post photos of your chick and her poop?

You mention you switched to medicated feed because they had respiratory illness. What type of medicated feed? Are you in the US? What were you feeding before this?
How long have you had the chicks and where are they being kept?

If you are in the US, medicated chick starter usually contains Amprolium which is a Coccidiostat, this is a very small amount and is intended to keep Coccidia numbers fairly low to help chicks build resistance. It is not an antibiotic and will not treat infection, respiratory illness or anything other than Coccidia the protozoa found in Coccidiosis overload.

What is the vitamin/electrolyte mix? I would probably start with that.
A drooping neck sounds like a neurological symptom like Wry Neck. What is the respiratory illness that you have been dealing with (symptoms)?

Did you treat your chicks with any antibiotics?

I'm sorry for all the questions, but sometimes getting more information is helpful so we can give you better suggestions.
If you have vet care, that is always best.

Yes, I’m in the US. I had a vet come out last week, and he said the respiratory illness was mycoplasma gallisepticum. He prescribed me oxytetracycline hydrochloride. No one else seems sick like this chick. I have him/her inside right now. I actually hatched this one myself. So, I had her/him since day one. The only thing I had was rooster booster vitamins and electrolytes with lacto bacillus.

I would try to get the Vitamins/electrolytes into her. Are you seeing any improvement?
