"drowned' eggs - are they still safe to eat?

well we've had torrential rain here for 24 hours and it seems one of our coops/house was not high enough and has flooded. luckily the chickens all flapped over to the neighbouring roosts to keep high and dry, but the nest boxes (and eggs) are under water and have been for possibly up to 12 hours


the boxes all have eggs in them..will these still be safe to eat or are they likely to have sucked in the rain water, and all the nastiness of the ground thats came in with the water?

if you can do without, i would say to do so. Rain water is cold so it probably made the pores draw in any bacteria.


sorry its flooded!!!!! was it a freak thing or is there building plans in the works?

sadly its the 2nd time in 2 weeks the river has burst its banks (its apparantly never done it before)!
last night was bad though so it reached the fields
