I lost a hen last week. She was drunk acting and I thought she might have been bitten by something while she was out free ranging. She lost the color in her comb, had drooping wings and couldn't stand up, she kept falling over. She died the next afternoon.

Same thing is now happening to my Buff Orpington. She is falling over and stumbling around. Her comb has lost color, but I noticed that her comb was like this last week. I am thinking this may contagious, but am not certain. I had bleached my entire coop yesterday and put in new crumbles. I cleaned because it needed it, not because I thought there was a disease going around.

Does anyone know about this? Please help...I don't want to lose my whole flock!!

I am so sorry for your Loss!!! I wish I had an answer! But here is a BUMP!!! some one who knows more will post soon!

Good Luck and God Bless!

I have been actively searching for a reason for this falling over and I am thinking maybe it is Marek's disease. I'm not 100% certain so I am still researching it. If anyone has had this happen to their flock, please let me know.

Thanks!!

Hi it sure sounds like Marek's disease i had a roo this happend to he didnt get any better only worse i had to put him down the best way to described it is like he was drunk im sorry wish i could help you more.

What is really strange is that it came out of nowhere. I hadn't brought in any new chickens. The Lt that died last week was not young. She was probably a year old.

The BO that it is happening to now is probably the same age. Does Marek's just show up at anytime or were there some sort of symptoms that I just missed?

I will also look up worms as suggested.

Thanks to all for your guidance!

I just lost a Roo last night, he was acting "drunk" he had a bit of a respiratory issue happening so I put him on antibiotics then he started to act drunk. Everyone else in the pen and yard are perfectly fine. No idea what happened so maybe someone out there can shed some light.
