I am sorry for you loss. You did everything you should have done, and she knew you cared.

On a unrelated note--it was pointed out to me that I typed "legions" rather than "lesions" in my first reply.

Since it has been quoted in this thread, which I cannot edit, I see no point in trying to fix it.

Just so we are clear--Marek's creates LESIONS in the brain, not little tiny armies in the brain. However, one smart-aleck might argue to another smart-aleck that "legions" DOES work---metaphorically speaking--- since a virus multiplies and spreads as it replicates. These little legions of viruses would then create lesions on the brain stem.

Back to FLChick--- it cant hurt to give the whole coop a scrubdown & keep a close eye out for possible spread. You could send her in for a necropsy, but that may be cost prohibitive. It may be cheaper to order the vaccine and cross your fingers.

I checked on the necropsy today, the cost is $30. It's not really high, but the place is about an hour from me, so I am going to pass.

I knew you meant lesions, but you are right, some smart aleck would argue the fact.

Thanks for your support!! A scrub down in the coop is the answer. I have a lot of work to do....can't hardly wait. I just did this last week before I knew I had another sick hen on my hands.
