dryer repair question

i have a clothes line..i need to get new line for it though..i was going to do that next week. but thats ok..i am going to steal some of the husbands cable and rig up a line, much to my snotty neighbors delight.

i have another suggestion-- if you have a tester, check to make sure that you are getting 220 to the dryer outlet. one side may be out leaving you with only 110, the light on the moister sensor light would work with just 110.

With the criteria you listed it is almost impossible to tell you what is wrong with it.

Elements burned out--- is it turning and not heating?

Fusable link burnt--- turning no heat

One leg of 220v out--- turning and no heat

Door switch--- won't do nothing

Lots of testing here for an amature way to much to explain in time allowed.

my husband, after some gentle persuasion on my part (nagging until he begged for mercy

) , we took it back to the man who sold it to us..who kindly agreed to look at it even though the warranty was up. his verdict was that after giving it a cursory glance, it is dead. completely dead. he is going to try and fix it and call me later.

most of the time when you push the start button and nothing happens the start capacitor for the motor is just gone bad a $5-10 part in most locales . some houses have 2 110 breakers that should be tied together often times are not like someone else suggested you may have lost one leg of power . I always check power first then door switch then the capacitor then whatever timer it may have good luck I hope the bill is low

yay, it was a thermal fuse and its only 40 dollars for the repair!!!

yea!! congrats!!! can i offer one more suggestion? check behind your lint screen, and double check your dryer vent, make sure they are completely clear from outside the house to the back of dryer. heat builds up and the motor will over heat( thats why they have those thermal fuses)) if hubby is inclined at all, get him to stick the vac. hose in the dryer vent where it comes out of the dryer and clean that too.
