I want to show OEGB really bad but it kills me to see such a beautiful bird being maimed for show
I do not have the guts to cut up its face and stuff like that! It makes me sick lol
I also do not want to mess up it's face so is there something that is the perfect insert shape cut thing?

I don't "maim" my birds I dub them. If you think it is so bad either don't dub your old English and don't show them or find a different breed to show.

You won't maim or cut up the face as long as you do it right. Read up as much as you can on doing it, and practice handling the bird's face to the point where you know that if you start cutting, it won't jerk around or flinch too much. In the end a good job heals up very quickly and is hardly noticeable once healed!

this rooster was dubbed by a master exhibitor ( not by me)

if you have more than one roo they will reach through the cages and tear up each others combs and wattles. you could leave your roos un dubbed and just show hens

If I could dubb all my show birds I would. It's so nice in the winter because you don't have to worry about frost bite as much. Its not that bad to do and they heal quick.

When dubbing do you have to have part of the comb still up or can you cut it all off to the point where there is now sign of a comb?

I think I already answered that. The 4th post in this thread includes a picture of an Old English Same Bantam that's dubbed about right. A Modern Game should be dubbed as close as you possibly can.

If you have never dubbed a bird before, I suggest you ask someone who is experienced to help teach you the first time or two.
