d'uccle color

Well his father really lack coloring in his tale/back end. For there to be no mottling in this male bird in question, one of the parents was missing their mottling gene. Because if both parents were typical millie fluer patterned, he SHOULD display mottling.

in lots of photos of mf roosters i have seen it looks typical that the tail and right around the tail are fairly plane colorwise. do you know any sites that have photos of GOOD quality mf duccles? the hens were both quite mottled, and the rooster does show some mottling, so i dont know how one could be missing the mottling gene if they display it? i know nothing of genetics.

He looks about par for and average d'uucle, definitely no show winner, be you can see the small specks of white in the converts and the white upper/outer margins in the tail, that's about all a male millie is supposed to have in his tail area. Also, depending on how old he is(the dad) the white marking improve with age on most. I do suspect the line was crossed to booted bantams though as Sonora suspected, beards are mighty thin, but has the correct everything else. Pretty much the only difference in booted and d'uccles, IS the lack of a beard.
As for the cockerel in question, looks similar to brown red hatchery stock I once got years ago, but the pattern is not quite right, I agree, definitely not b.b. red though, probably just one of those odd ball colors you get out of color crossing breeds would be my guess?? What ever he is, it's not a true recognized color. Pretty though!

you cant always trust Featersite's names for stuff. They use the names the people who provide the pics call them by, wheather it's right or not. Seen it a bunch of times. Look at all the goldnecks on there, just about everyone is called something different, and buffs are called yellows on there too. a lot of it is forgein names though which are accurate for the country of origin.
BUT what they call a mahogany mille fluer to me looks like nothing more than the result of a mille being bred to a black mottled.
The result is a black mottled with a lot of red leakage from the mille in him.

I too would like to see the bird now if he's still around. He was duckwing based for sure, and un bearded. so highly doubt it was from the posted parents. No offense ment by that. Just from a genetic point he was missing a lot of stuff to have come from them. Curious thing happen though so who knows. would be interesting to see him now though.

yes that is correct from what i have been told by someone the mahogany is a cross between a mille and black mottled and i plan on trying to breed some of them if i can get some stock birds to work with i hope to try and get them to breed true and i know that will take some time but i love that color so thats ok with me
