D'uccle pronounciation

I am in trouble. My son is showing his D'uccle for 4-h next week. We had read it was pronounced Dew - Clay and that is how we have been working on it. Now we were told it is actually Duck - el. How are you supposed to say it? My son has had speech problems so we have worked so hard on it and now I'm dreading telling him we've been saying it wrong.

I say you had it right the first time. And the man at the local feed store suggested that southerners tend to use the other pronunciation more. I went on a translation website (I think it was through Bing) and put in the full name: Mille Fleur D'Uccle, and got a lovely french-sounding woman's voice pronouncing it. [it means million flowers from/of Uccle, if I remember correctly.] Uccle, I learned, is a region of Belgium, and I'm pretty sure that's a French-speaking area. So, you don't have to tell him you've been saying it wrong, 'cause you haven't! Dew-Clay is correct!

Yep! Just pretend you're french! The French would NEVER say DUCK El! Dew clay. Lol but more like DEW-CLEH.

There was another multi page thread on this subject awhile back.
Actually mille is thousand not million I believe.
How they say it in France is interesting I suppose if you plan to show in France but an American judge won't know what your DEW-CLAY is. Here it's generally pronounced Do-Cle or some throw in a y sound so it's D-You-Cle.

good information, I have been pronouncing very southern as in Mill Fluer Dee Uckle.... I typed that in the phonetic sense... Silly me... I don't know no French!!!

The last E is silent in French unless there are two together, I’m pretty sure
