D'uccle Thread

These are my two cream mottled pullets, Spot and Posie.

This is Foghorn, my cream mottled cockerel, and Pixie, my porcelain pullet.

This is Spice, a porcelain pullet.

Here is one more picture of Foghorn.

Any outside thoughts on quality so far (rose colored glasses and all of that)? I do know some of the pictures don't show much. They are all 13 weeks old.

I have to ask, what is a "cream mottled D'uccle?" They all look like porcelains or some version of. I would take more pictures when their feathers are less frazzled.

Three of them (the marked ones) are cream mottled, not porcelain. (Unless the eggs were mis-marked, although there is a color difference in person.) What is "some version of" a porcelain? Wouldn't they just be porcelain or not? Anyway, cream mottled, according to the breeder, is a dilute gene on buff mottled. When I get home and on my other computer I will link to another picture I found of one. I can't remember if it was on the Feathersite page for them or not. They are all mostly that straw color right now. All of them are just getting the other markings in.

I've never heard of a cream mottled variety until now. Prob because it's not a recognized color. And I'm pretty sure a mottled buff is a golden neck, but I guess what ya call it could depend on where you are from. What I meant by some version of, was a poor quality porcelain that just has a more solid creamy color. Very cute birds though

No, it is not a recognized color. The breeder that I bought the eggs from has a number of colors that are not recognized though (along with all? of the recognized colors). Everything I have read says that a golden neck is either a splash mille fleur, or a mille fleur with dominant white. They have much more white on them than any (quality) mottled I have seen. Obviously these birds do not have a lot of other colors yet, as they are only 3 months old. Over about the last month they have gained some spots on their backs mostly. The porcelains have a very obvious difference in tail color (the lavender color), whereas the cream mottleds have the creamy color on their tails. (Less so for the cockerel, but the pullets there is an obvious color difference.)

Porcelain chicks should be almost all cream colored and just starting to get their spots at 3 months of age. Milli Fleur are the same way.

These are my chicks. Supposed to be about 7 days old. These are my first chickens ever. The Mamma was a porcelain d'uccle and that's what I'm hoping these will be. And I need females :) so here's hoping. :)
Here are my babies. Thoughts? Color? The other two look similar. This one is my favorite :)

Our only mille fleur, Noodles, is about 8 weeks now. We purchased her from a local farm but the adult millie's they had were just too cute! They had so many feathers on their feet.. And I mean ALOT. Their feet looked giant compared to their body. Is that a good thing quality wise or not?
