D'uccle Thread

As much as love my little bantam Cochins and lone d'uccle I will come right out and say any hard feathered feather footed breeds are extra hassle to show especially with last minute prep. They get dirty, thy break, etc. silkies are not hard feathere so that makes your life a little easier

The reason why is bc the only people that have a roo they aren't quality and idk where to find one but I have 3 silkies and there feet are easy to keep in good condition btw im gunna be putting them in a giant pen and train them i have peacocks hat im trying to train that is going really well and people say the same about other breeds i have ( japanese bantams) and they do good that shouldn't b he prob its just my parents wanted to know if they are a good quality breed for show

When it comes to showing poultry, patience is a must. Show season is just about over in most areas, maybe not the south...I would give it time to find a good quality roo. Don't jump to switch or give up on a breed. I don't want to discourage you from doing D'uccles because they definitely are an amazing beautiful breed but do what you feel most comfortable with and like the most. I've jumped around and did Cochins, breda fowl, sebrights, and japs and found my favorites to be Mille & mottled D'uccles and blue & black Sumatras. If you can find some decent quality D'uccles go for it,

Very well put.

Hi, quick question ;) I have 3 D'uccle pullets between 20-30 weeks old. All three do the egg squat but none have laid an egg. Do they just not lay in the winter? I tried to find hatching eggs as well, can't find any. Thanks! Kathy
