D'uccle Thread

The Booted Bantam has no Beard, has large Wattles, is taller and has a "U" shape between the head / neck and tail. Because there is d'Anver blood in the d'Uccle bantams the d'Uccle is a shorter bird, has a broader breast, Bull neck, very, very small wattles (or none) and a "V" shape between the Head/neck and Tail.

What color is the bird in the bottom pic and how do I get one??? That's beautiful and I just love the breed! My Milles are great and I've got a wonderful little porcelain baby that I'm excited for

The bird in the bottom pic is a porcelain. Tedzilla has some beautiful ones. She should have eggs, PM her. I ♥ mine from her!

I candled my other d'Uccle eggs last night and I do not think I will get as good of a hatch from the rest of them as I did from Teddi's eggs. I had to toss quite a few from the other 3 breeders.

I will persevere but not holding my breath. Sometimes I get great hatches from shipped eggs and sometimes not. The PO can often scramble them pretty bad.
I suppose these chicks will grow up in the house and not down in the barn with the other 300+ chicks.

I was confused at first, too. I went to the club website and read more about them. It was an "Oooohhhhh" moment for me to find out about them.
I had read an article in the Backyard Poultry magazine about them and have hung onto it because of the color of MF and pattern. Going back over that article now I am very disappointed. When I read the article the first time it did not make me want to get this breed. I drooled over the Porcelains but the article did not make me yearn for d'Uccles. What a shame. I am glad I went ahead and decided to try them because of the Porcelain. Now I get to own a cute little bantam totally different than my Cochins.

I think more articles need to be put out there showing the public that these little birds are worth owning.
Even the website didn't make me want to try them. Maybe I am too much on advertizing but if you want to promote the breed then show the public what is special about them! Have photos showing owners interacting with their birds, showing them and accepting ribbons. Sell the breed and you all will have them in every household across the nation!
My website sells much more than any words I could ever write. Photos make people want to love the chickens! I get a lot of emails every day from folks asking about the chickens, from newbies to experienced owners.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Ok so I don't know how to put pics up because my iPhone is my Internet source but I'm wondering if what I have are really porcelains? I've got a six week old and two three week olds that I've been told are porcelains. My oldest went through a kind of gray ble stage and now is a really silvery white. And I've had trouble determining if it's a roo or hen. I know I've got one of each of the younger and I originally thought my older was a roo but it acts hen-y. Does anyone have pics of young/teenage porcelains I could compare to?
