Your Blue is the color of mine, they are cute. My Blue girl has a larger comb, so you never know you may just have two girls there. Very cute

Whoa my goodness! That thing looks like a little Hobbit! It's my first time with d'Uccle chicks. I hatched these out 7 weeks ago. I'm looking at the beard on this one, and it looks funny to me...the other chicks it looks like they've got tiny feathers, but this one looks like fuzz. Is it normal for a 7 week old d'Uccle? I'm thinking this one is a rooster given the red comb...but sometimes it reminds me of a hen!
I find it looks funny...but again, I have no experience raising d'Uccle from chicks...what do you guys think from your experience?
Mstricer, Were you surprised to get solids from that combo? Or is that normal?
Barred4Life, I'm not sure about the beard, I looked back at pics from my chicks last year and yours does seem more "fluffy". I also think the light color around his eye is unusual. Are there no feathers there or are there just tiny light colored ones? It looks like there is a white ring around his eyes, kinda cool! I don't think I've seen that before.....

Yeah it's just this one that has fluffy feathers for a beard, the others are more defined feathers...
For the white around the eyes, there's no feathers. The white is the colour of skin? Maybe it will become red with time? Red is the normal colour right?!
At the end of the day it doesn't matter given I don't show my birds or anything like that. I was just wondering what was happening with this guy?!
And what about the dark feathers around the face and neck...normal for these chicks? I know as they grow older their colouring changes a lot, so still banking on this mille fleur's colour to slowly bloom![]()
