D'uccle Thread

So, I noticed a couple of my older "purebred" D'Uccle" hens have a tinge of whitish blue in their ear lobes. I think they are supposed to be pure red in D'Uccles? I was wondering if anyone else had seen this in older birds. I assume there must be something in their genetic background showing up. Here are some pics of my chicks from this year, they are almost 2 months old now....

Those are millies, no worries. When young, it takes a while for the 3 colors to move through the feathers and settle into the correct position. Just be patient and let them mature. They'll look really weird for a while, as their darker head feathers come in and they keep a yellow ring around their eyes. Eventually, the yellow ring goes away as well.

I am wondering the same thing. My brown-red hen had a whitish tint her red ear lobes. Is that normal?

They do get a look about them at a certain age where you question them, I was ding that with my black Mottled, then this week, BAM they are cute as a button again

at a loss as to were to go from here lol shes an f2 from my silkied d'uccle project and i was gonna put her back under her dad to see what would happen but as most of yall know her dad was killed by some dogs and she was the only egg to hatch from him. right now she is in with a mille cock and i do have 10 babies out of that pen that just hatched and have other ideas now lol. i offered her up for others to give their opion on a bird that they would like and i got single combed, black skined, 4 toes, bearded, mille pattern, blue egg layer with or without the crest lol. so what do yall think?? (i have yet to get my hands on some nice mille pullets to go with my cock -_- )

Now this is a very interesting mix. I must admit I'm drawn to all the Silkie crosses (like sizzles). Seems like a great mix for personality. My friendliest birds have been D'uccles and Silkies.
Is this a new trend? I haven't seen them before. Very interested in seeing how your projects turns out. She's very unique and cute.
