D'uccle Thread

Now this is a very interesting mix. I must admit I'm drawn to all the Silkie crosses (like sizzles). Seems like a great mix for personality. My friendliest birds have been D'uccles and Silkies.
Is this a new trend? I haven't seen them before. Very interested in seeing how your projects turns out. She's very unique and cute. :thumbsup

Lose the boots and blue skin and your working on a Watermahl I will be crossing my blue silkie hen to my Danver Roo to start

ha ha I didn't even know about the porcelin color until I came to this thread and think they look lovely.

Personally I never liked the silkie, crested or even tuffed and beared look - at least not in a whole flock - maybe one chickie to make fun of :)

but I know they are super popular, and your cross is right up there on the adorable scale. My personal preference is the Millie / spangled look - and that sure came out dominate, didn't it ?

Porcelain Belgian Bearded d'Uccles

By the way, these birds came from eggs from Teddiliza's birds.

I sold my flock recently, but I am still interested in the improvement of the breed.
I do believe that when you cross a d'Uccle with another breed, the resulting chicks are not d'Uccles. They are mixed breed birds.

Ok, after a considerable time spent cleaning up this thread, let's give it a go in re-opening.

This category is Breeds, Genetics, and Showing. Please note.

If such a discussion about breeding and improving bred to the Standard, show quality birds offends your sensibilities, then this thread, in this category, is probably not for you. Excessive arguing, flaming, and rudeness is never allowed.

Yes, you and most everybody loves those fluffy add-ons ! So I totally get it.

Personally, I like the grey and dark legs :) any hen I get, no matter how much I like her - I wouldn't bred her true to bred if she has yellow legs. If she were a pet and I wanted babies of HERS, I would pick out a roo with dark legs.

However, I am not breeding to start any line or show or anything like that ... If I hatched out any eggs, they would purely be for my own place and my own viewing enjoyment.

Right now - I have a little group o D'Uccles that are sooo cute ! that I may decide to have some in my flock every year ... meaning I may have buy some millies every other year or so.
