D'uccle Thread

In the past week I have lost 8 of my 9 D'uccle chicks. I have been treating with Corrid, but don't really think its coccidia. The one remaining is hitting the two week mark. I had about the same odds before I have 1 out of that bunch. I had the first group in the brooder in my house and thought because of the AC they were getting chilled. I moved the brooder to the garage the rest of the chicks did fine. Now I have this baby D'uccle and a Silkie left. What could be the problem? They just seem to be fine fine one day gone the next or overnight.

They would be fine in the morning and be a little wobbly and lethargic in the afternoon and dead the next day. Some would show no symptoms and be dead.

I have found that d'Uccle chicks need heat a lot long then a normal chick. If they have been sick and not getting better, add some heat and see if that doesn't help

I have a 90 watt bulb in with them and they can get within 4 inches of it. That said I went out this am and the bulb had blown so my remaining chick was chilled and cuddled up under the Silkie. I hope it lives as it is my Gold Neck and I think they are just beautiful. It has not had pasty butt and was acting fine yesterday.

Just checked on it and so far so good. Its up running around.

This is my 4 mth old Milli Fleur. Can you confirm its a pullet. She

has the sweet personality. She hangs out with a Sizzle Silkie, Sultan, and a Polish.
