D'uccle Thread

No just Milles now. I may get into them if I ever see some good quality ones. Your roosters and hen look really nice. The tail on the 2nd rooster is borderline squirrel tail. That's really the only standout issue beside his little wattles which aren't too bad either.
Yes! Thank you, I was curious about the tail and I agree on the wattles! I'm very thankful that the other boy has the nicer of both (wattles are probably half the size), AND he's the more calm one to boot.

Do you think the tail is enough to remove him from the pen? I've just been looking for a good reason and have someone wanting him, but hubby tells me to keep two.

Are they related? I would recommend keeping 2 in case something happens to one. You don't want to be caught dead in the water for breeding. As for the wattles, none is optimal. Im not sure how to describe the line except for what your rooster has, is prob the most you could get away with on a D'uccle.

They are related. And thank you. I wonder if they'll grow anymore? I hope not.. these are almost 9mos old now. Guess I'll just watch them. And if I can ever get my hands on some nice porcelains I'll get a nice cockerel from that and give him the boot ;)

Very pretty carcar80!

Doh! I never noticed D'uccles did not have wattles or were not supposed to. I'll have to keep that in mind when choosing my second rooster. Chances are it will be a son to my current one or maybe I'll get lucky on some eggs.

Anyone have any experience with hillbilly hatchery blue Mille's? I ordered eggs before I knew if my porcelain hen would produce decent chicks and before I got my new mille hen. I am going to run all the Mille colors together since my space is at a premium and my understanding is that Mille Fleur is dominate and I should end up with chicks split to porcelain and or blue?

I did get a order of feather leg bantams from Ideal and I think there are a few Mille's and porcelains in there, but I'm not totally sure yet and I will not hold my breath on quality.

This is Speckle...she's not pure she's mixed with serama but she's really pretty

I think D'uccle's are the cutest things! They have to be one of my favorite breeds. I have friends who have some and I wish I could have some, but my coop is full enough as it is.
