D'uccle Thread

I'm near Gainesville. I only have porcelain's laying right now, Sebastian and Sadie in my pics and 2 more pullets who look exactly like Sadie! Let me know, you can have them for the price of shipping.

I think I'll wait. I'm only allowed five birds total, so maybe I could come get a pullet or two sometime. I'm waiting on a Marans and an Ameracauna from another guy, but I really like how pretty and sweet this breed seems. We'll see.... too many choices....

Breeding Question!

I have two mille's -- Zippidydoodah (roo), and Peanut (hen).

They are in the same area as two turken hens, so I KNOW this is not one of their chicks (one of them lays a large brown egg, and the other a large green egg).

This chick hatched from one of Peanut's small light colored eggs...and the ONLY roo she has EVER been exposed to is Zippidydoodah.

What are the odds of getting a Porcelain chick from two Belgium Mille colored birds?! Pretty common? All of the other chicks (2) I've hatched from these two have been colored like the parents... this is the first time I've gotten a Porcelain chick ... or, at least what I THINK is a Porcelain chick.

I'm going to guess the answer to that question is no. I purchased some blue mille fleur from them this past spring and I would say that almost one quarter of the birds developed into golden necks. Of course they are not old enough to breed yet, but I'm deducing that since they were in with the blue mille fleur they share the Andalusian gene.

Well, I bought a bunch of gold necked d,uccles from Ideal this spring. One of the bunh is regilar mille fleur, and about one half are pure white. The rest are various shades of gold. % suspect that these are based on dominant white rather than splash. I have heard that European gold necks are based on white, but I don' know if that's true.
