If I did this right you'll see a photo of a very nice SQ White roo. He's not mine and I'm not sure he's still for sale but I could find out for you if you're interested.

I'd take him in a heartbeat but I don't have any white hens or know where to get any that would be SQ. Anybody know where to find any SQ White hens?

Sandy

Awe - Thanks!

over!

Who did you get your White hen from? Was she SQ?

i got her from a local BYCer who i'm not sure if she was hatchery or breeder. the lady i got her from traded another bird to get her and then was down sizing her flock to certain breeds. i only had Nova for a few months before i lost her to being egg bound her first time and i didn't catch the signs soon enough with her. she was headed in the right direction for being SQ! sooo sweet and funny during the time she was with me. she'd come running to me and any way possible would try to get to my arm or shoulder to snuggle! i wish i had a pic of Nova or Blue to remember both of them but i'm not always quick to snap pics of some of my birds.

I'm sorry to hear you lost both of them. I never think to take photos either.
Sometimes we forget just how fragile their lives are and expect them to always be around.

Cocci is always something to watch w/ goats and chickens both and just so ya' know the ole equation of cocci = bloody poo is not always the case anymore, cocci can kill w/o the bloody poo's . Anything brought onto our farm gets a good bleach/water foot bath, wormed, deloused and isolation of at least 30 days!! We learned the hard way and lost several goats back a few yrs ago. I found it hard to think that ppl would sell us a sick animal, I just could not get my mind wrapped around the whole thought. I guesss because, I personally would not do something like that and choose to look at ppl just the same way. We lost not only the sick goats but half our small herd in just no time flat. Not only was it a financial loss but the emotional loss was far greater than anything else... we sat and cried and cried for weeks on end. We now have only about 7 goats our AI tank and our herd is closed!!

Please be careful when bringing in new critters to your farm...

Ours go 'insane' over bread!! Try going out and setting with your camera and some bread, throw out pieces of bread all over and just take time with them. Ours are in breeder/ nest pens in the pic's that you see of them. But when I want good pic's I just go and enjoy setting with them and they cannot stand being away lol They are curious lil critters and 'want to know what you have and are doing'. If they start getting treats when you come sit with them the camera becomes obsolete because the bread is SO GOOD!! lol

All too often in this fast paced world, we as humans often forget why we got our critters in the first place. For me, they are therapy, they relax me and make me laugh, they come up and love me w/o any questions or judgments, they are truely a gift from God!! It's so awsome to sit and watch how each of the birds relate to each other, or to look closely at how each feather is so unique to be colored as it is. We have several different breeds of birds, but each bird holds a special place in our hearts, each one has a lil' something about it that strikes a cord deep within ... Have I said I love my birds?? lol I do!!

Thanks..I'll give it a shot.

I just got these two little boys. They are 7 and 9 weeks. They are my first D'Uccles and I think they are just sooo cute and sweet too.

This is ZoomZoom - he actually has blue eyes which I have never seen before in a chicken:

Very pretty! (if I do say so myself)

My lavs have blue eyes when young, but they change over when they hit maturity. So Zoom-Zoom's eyes may not stay blue. Are you sure Zoom-Zoom is a cockeral?

Sandy

ZoomZoom does have that pullet look to it's beak to me! if it doesn't crow i would certainly keep it! that beak looks like it is long and gracefully sloping and no real hook to it like cockerels/roos tend to get.

i have a LF light brahma that has blue eyes that never changed over. sort of an interesting stair from her when you see those eyes looking your way!
