D'uccle Thread

OH NO! Mine have done this, and I have been lucky. Now I have 6ft tall fencing, which discourages them, but they can still get over it if they want to. Hence the bird netting over some of my runs. So sorry for your loss!

Yeah she jumped the 4 foot fence around the coop, which I don't worry about because MY dog is right there to protect her and she liked hanging out with him and sharing his bones.
I was planning on covering the run this weekend, I only didn't last weekend because it was raining...

Our properties fence is 6ft, that's what she got over. She flew to the top and was sitting there when my mum saw her and ran out to 'save' her but in the process spooked her onto the other side of the fence

Try going to the Ohio Nationals to see if there are any breeders there in your area. It's usually in the fall.

I'm tellin' ya- lilcrow is local and her porcelains are GORGEOUS.

Ohio Nationals or Indiana Crossroads would be good places to get show quality birds The trouble with hatching eggs is that it can be difficult and you might not actually get a SQ chick.

If you can't make it to these really big shows (we're talking over 15 thousand birds in one place) then check the American Bantam Association website for a list of shows and find one in your area. That's the best way to find a breeder who is breeding to standard. Make sure you read the standards first, though. Naked middle toes is a serious defect that I see on a lot of d'Uccles....

I am looking forward to being in Indiana next month; It's a d'Uccle club meeting! So there will be a LOT of d'Uccle breeders there.

2 out of 5 of our chicks have hatched.
