D'uccle Thread

Linus is the name of a character from the Charlie Brown/Peanuts comic strip. He's Charlie Brown's best friend. He sucks his thumb and carries a security blanket. His sister's name is Lucy. If this chick were to have been a girl, the name would have been Lucy.

The rooster that fathered him was named Charlie.

Definitely a boy.
Looks like a Cornish was somewhere in the bloodlines but that is just what I am seeing. The beard and muffs are there so I believe you about the parents. I am just looking at the body shape and legs size. I haven't been in d'Uccles long enough to know a lot about them yet.

Awwww! Thanks for visiting. All of them are from you except maybe 2.

I sold one of the new baby boys yesterday.
The family had a fit over them when I opened the tractor and they came out to play. Well, some of them. Others hid because they were a large family. But Scooby and Porcy came to be petted. I set them on the door frame and they enjoyed the attention. Porcey flew off an arm and tried to get to me but everyone scared her. They went running at her like she was going to go somewhere. But she sprinted right back to the tractor door and scooted inside. I never have to worry they will go anywhere.
But anyhow, the family left with a little Porcelain roo to love and cherish. I wish I could have sold girls but I only have 2 out of the 7 that hatched. I have to keep those 2 girls so I hope to sell the little boys. My nephew wants one when it gets older. he doesn't want little chicks but I didn't think 2 months old was little anymore!
I haven't heard much more from the crowing attempts. Just a gurgle here and there. If they crow too much they will have to go down to the barn but for now they can stay up here where they get a lot of meal worms treats. Spoiled rotten buggers!

Hello all!

I figured I'd share a photo. This is my Mille Fleur D'Uccle. Her name is Milly.

I heard a symphony of girls doing the egg song before and went outside to find them all yelling the song at Milly. Milly is on the bottom of the pecking order and I think they wanted her off of their makeshift nest. Why they decided to make a nest up against the side of the house? Who knows!

Here's Milly on the nest. Neither of the eggs are hers.

I'd like to get another D'Uccle or two in the spring, or perhaps hatch out a bunch of them and keep a few for myself. She's the only one I have and I think they're darling birds. This little lady will be a year old at the end of March. Thanks for looking!
