D'uccle Thread

Not that I know of. There are some on here that have their feed mixed at a feed mill. I have always used Layena and just recently to Layena Plus, I only changed on a the birds I was showing, and mixed in Manna Pro Show Conditioner. I don't have any problems with my birds all are healthy. I won't change what works and won't buy because it is cheaper. Not saying you use cheap feed. The guys at the feed stores, want to sell their brand. Mine do the same thing. But I stick to what has worked for me. Come to think about it a couple years ago I did buy Kent Layer and my birds ended up with running poo and egg production dropped. Went back to Layena and everything went back to normal.

the only layena i have ever seen is pelleted and my hens wont eat it pelleted things, or at least not much of it. i normally use dumor wich i I have always had great results and healthy birds i like it very much

Idk, i had my first birds on the purina dumor chick starter, nothing but runs! Then i did one of the purina pellets when older, and they were still icky.

I bought an auction hen that wasn't well, and i nursed her back to health using the manna pro showbird supplement! (She wasn't eating and that stuff is really concentrated nutrition) I really like that stuff. I noticed a difference in my birds right away! Their feathers came in like silk, droppings firmed up and smelled much less! I switched over to just scratch and hand fed each bird some supplement every day. I think the minerals and vitamins are easier to digest in their formula, and the protein is high quality fish vs the standard soy that is in most feeds.

I wish manna pro made a flock pellet, i surely would buy it! I have thought about going back to the original scratch and manna pro supplement, but my flock is growing.........so would be horribly costly! But so far the prince gamebird has worked better than the other pellets i've tried. (i could use the "maintenance" formula of the gamebird to lower the protein too, i believe that was 20 or 21%)

Ok, I think I have a problem. One of my mottled D'uccle chicks that just (tuesday) hatched, from mstricer eggs, that has blue eyes. I have heard that when they have blue eyes, they are blind. I'm not sure if that is the case, but, she doesn't seem to know where the food or water is, and I have been feeding her by hand.
Are there any "tests" I can do? Or anything I can do to ensure she eats and drinks regularly? Thanks!

i only read that it's a fault in most breeds but doesn't mean they are blind
