I kept two out of a recent hatch and now I don't know if they're roos or pullets. I'm inclined to say that they are roos! Am I right? One is more red and I call it "red" and the other is lighter so I call it "honey".
Here is honey:

Here is red:

Here are the both, red in front, honey in back

thanks!

**edit: I forgot to mention they're 10-11 weeks old.**

actually, i'm changing my answer, honey *could* be a girl, it depends, how old are they? s/he has a red comb, but not many visible male "sex feathers" as red does.

Oh, I hope one is a girl. They're 10-11 weeks old. (I forgot to mention that, didn't I?) You think "honey" **might** be a girl?

I think they are both boys.

My Mille Fleur's comb is still really small and is yellowy. She is 9 weeks old. You will find out soon, they should be crowing soon.

interestingly enough, I have never had a bird crow and I have kept some cockerels until 22 weeks. Once, the lady who bought my cockerel as a pair said he started crowing the very next day. I have never even heard the sounds a cockerel makes when he's practicing crowing. I have a small flock in a well-situated coop and they are allowed to free-range in my back yard. Is it because I treat them like girls?

Well, sounds like they're boys and I'm bummed about it.
thanks all

I'll hold out for honey in hopes that it's a she. I was hoping to name one of them Antoinette!

and tinychicky, your tiny is an adorable little d'uccle!

I do hope it's a girl, but I doubt it. Females combs are normally not that large, not even full grown. I'm so sorry.

Yes, 2 weeks can make a difference, but that's a pretty big comb.

I just took these of my 9 week d'uccle a mintue ago to show you her comb.
