D'Uccles...Tell Me Something...

And here I was worried about you not having any chicks to play with since you just got rid of some chicks!

Well, Carrie, I think I'll still wait till spring, though. First, DH has to be convinced, then we have to find materials to build a small coop. Then, the feedstore has to get more D'Uccles unless I decide to hatch some from a breeder.

Does this mean "no chicks" no hatching until spring????? Hmmmmm we will see.. I have said that myself and I was whinning to my dh because he wouldn't let me buy five barred rocks this past Sunday at the farm fest!! So I know that sometime this winter...I just might be hatching. My only hesitation is not wanting any more roos!!! Can't seem to even give them away around here.

Poor CJ would have several good homes if we all lived closer to you. I would be harping on my dh to move but this place has been in his family for almost 100 years now and we love it here and hope to never have to move.

Sounds great to me, Carrie. I dont know what it would be like to live in a family home and to stay put.
Well, at the moment, DH is not with me on building another coop, no matter how small. We'll just see how that pans out.

Oh Cyn,

The d'uccles are SO friendly.

I hatched some eggs from Wildsky, and had THE prettiest and neatest personality lil Mille hen. Unfortunately I didnt keep her, she was just like Lily, one of those that was VERY hard to tell, so rehomed her thinking she was a roo, but with a very good home.

She has the best personality, hatched on April 28th and laid one egg about 3 weeks ago, and is just now starting up again.

Then I hatched some from Grace, her last set of Porcelain Eggs. Two of those went to the same home, but I kept little Boo. They also had great personalities, two of them wanted to be held ALL the time and loved on.

She had curled toes, having to wear boots for the first few weeks...off and on, she was stubborn and kept pulling them off or it would have been a day!

Anyhow, she is the very sweetest thing, my little Boo. And I miss my Scout a lot, but I get updates and she is in a great home with her hatchmates.

Anyhow, pics of Boo! She really isnt much bigger than a dove and is now 4 months, with a fantastic personality. Oh and she was the ringleader for my turkeys and my other hatches, as the oldest. Too funny to see 6 turkeys, 3 black orps, and one bantam cochin following her around, she appointed herself as mother to them all.
