My D'Uccle has been a lap chicken from the beginning. Here she is napping under my husband's beard.

Just hope they don't become cat food - you can't trust cats
There was a thread discussing this last year. One member said they asked a judge at a big poultry show something about the breed, using the proper French pronunciation, and the judge said, We pronounce it de-ookle.I was curious how d'Uccle was said so I went to pronouncewiki and listened to a french person say it, she pronounces it like "doo cluh". There are apparently a lot of ways to say it though, the list that you can listen to is long lol. From what I read, Uccle is a town in Belgium and they speak french there so I listened to the French first.

Right, I just avoid saying D'Uccle! What if you saw an ad for one and had to call and ask about them, lol. BTW, the mille fleurs don't get their spots right away with their first feathers, it takes a few months, and they get more and more.Thank you for the link, I'll head over there and take a peek. As for pronunciation, there are a ton of ways I guess. I did listen to many of the other ways of saying it and de ookle is one. So I guess it doesn't matter how you say it as long as whomever you are saying it to knows what you are talking about haha!
Oh I wanted to say what a beautiful chicken yours is! I hope mine comes out that awesome. I am not really fond of the muffs but on yours, it makes her look like she is smiling lol

What a sweet gentle little girl Sunny is. Not at all like my other chickens, poor Sunny is at the bottom of the pecking order.
