He was able to go to the dialysis clinic whenever his kidneys began failing but once he had to start going everyday, it became too much and he started doing it at home. He did hemodialysis for several years and that didn't take as long but my stepmom wouldn't let him do it overnight in fear of the machine malfunctioning (it did once at the dialysis clinic and it was scary but thankfully professionals were there) with most of his blood being cleaned while they were sleeping. So he started the peritoneal dialysis and that takes a long time. He's able to do it while he sleeps which is much better, but once he wakes up, he tied to the amount of line he has. If he has a morning appointment the next day, he has to start in time to make sure he's finished in time to get there. With the peritoneal dialysis, he had to leave some fluid in his abdomen and them spend more time mid-late afternoon draining that. Plus the supplies are unreal! He has an entire bedroom devoted to dialysis supplies only and it's a large bedroom. A large chunk of his life has been around dialysis. We're very blessed that dialysis kept him alive for so long, so I hate to sound ungrateful. Dialysis is an awesome tool but it certainly has it's drawbacks
I didn't realize you could do dialysis at home. It still sounds crazy intense. But the new kidney will start working soon and he won't have do dialysis at all, right?

And you don't sound ungrateful at all. Sometimes we are grateful for things but they are still hard. 💖

Surprisingly the new kidney is already working. It started working the very next day. That's so promising, especially after they told us they didn't expect it to work for maybe a week 💕 He hasn't had dialysis since he got the call on Tuesday morning. He unhooked then and hasn't had it since 😍

I went to the feed store yesterday and on my way out, I noticed the fish truck in the parking lot. We purchased several pounds of fat head minnows a couple of months back to stock the pond. I usually fish out minnows each night for my big ducks but with the leaves falling, it's impossible to find them. I've been thinking about letting the little ducks have minnows so yesterday I purchased a pound of minnows and 25 blue gills. Of course the blue gills are too large for the little ducks, but the minnows are perfect. The oldest Calls had some last night and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the chase more than anything (the chase was the only part Lylah enjoyed. She's not fond of eating them). So I'm wondering if I should limit the minnows for my bantam ducks? My big ducks can eat a lot of them but they've done that for over a year now. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'd appreciate any input. Thank you so much

I would assume less is more due to the amount of protein and fat fish would have. I'd say treat it as treats.
