Hi everyone. My name is Kale.

My problem with ducks isn't so much quantity more... Intensity. I started off with 6 ducks a day and now I'm down to 2 ducks a day. The truth is... Ducks are most of what I think about. As soon as the sun comes up I run outside and take care of ducks, and ducks are the last thing I take care of before the sun goes down. I can't even go on vacation because of my duck problem. They consume my life.

Hi @HeatherKellyB, nice to hear from you! I thought of you just this last week because I gave another duck the vaporizer treatment with the Oxine, which you so kindly mentioned to me. I don't know if was the right treatment, since I have no idea what is going on, but it's a tool in my toolbox and I thought I'd give it a try. Also, my Penny's foot finally healed - it was an amazing miracle - I stopped bandaging her foot when we went on vacation in July, and the scab just slowly disappeared and the foot pad swelling went pretty much back to normal, which I thought was impossible. Unfortunately the day the scab fully went away and I was rejoicing, she hurt her leg somehow and hasn't been able to walk for a week and a half. Ugh, so frustrating. I have three new babies who I am trying to get moved outside, but it's hard. Peep and Dixie, runners, and Dolly, a Duclair. How are you and your ducks? I'm not ever on this thread, but I guess this is the place to be!

Oh my Kale, I'm so sorry. I know that you give your ducks a wonderful life so I hope you can find comfort in that. Your remaining two ducks are gorgeous! Are they part of your original flock? You are a very dedicated duck mama

A feather nare-ring. My drakes used to get one through their nares all the time.

Hi! I am so happy to read that. It definitely warms my heart. I am so happy to read about Penny's foot too! That wonderful news. Both of our girls had serious cases of bumblefoot. I am still wrapping Honey Boo Boo's foot. It's completely healed but with the bone erosion causing a very slight limp, it's just enough to drag her foot pad and I do not want any type of abrasion inviting germs in to cause another infection. That off and on infection lasted nearly a year. She's been wound/infection free since Nov 2020, a month after the Avian vet told me to euthanize her. Now she keeps laying soft shelled/shell less eggs which I believe has to do with her molting. I worry I'm going to harm her kidneys with too much Calcium so I am trying to refrain from giving her a Citracal tablet unless she's laid multiple shell less eggs. She's eating oyster shell. This girl just won't take a break laying eggs. So, you ended up with more ducklings!!! They're gorgeous! Congratulations

I love it when my ducks end up with a feather across their beak. It is like they are in disguise .
