Thanks! They are adorable for sure, but they sure are messy.
Im trying to give them a lot of time outdoors and I introduced them to watermelon and grasshoppers today.
Yeah. I can imagine that many are rather messy. I have found the best amount to raise is 3. They don't get disgusting as quickly. Less work cleaning. I get to enjoy them more than having to spend so much time on other care aspects.

Yeah, this June I hatched out 20 runner ducklings and that was a lot of work, but well worth it. Once they begin to lay eggs I might try to sell some off as laying ducks, because even I have to acknowledge I have too many ducks. :lau

Yeah. I have thought about breeding my Saxony ducks and selling them. But it would be really hard to let them go. It is so hard not to get attached to cute fluff balls

Yeah. I bought my Saxony ducks to breed and sell. Since, they are a heavy bird I was planning on butchering the excess males I have, but they are such beautiful birds, I might back down from that idea. It’s hard for me to kill any animal though.

Yeah, I have read the meat is suppose to more flavorful, so I am a bit curious what it tastes like. I wouldn't butcher my females or my current drake. He is too good of a drake to butcher.

I want to get a few Muscovy ducklings and try to get a good drake. I like Muscovy meat and would not mind butchering the drakes. And females are easy to sell. It is just finding a decent drake. I feel like I want to get multiple drake ducklings, so I have a higher chance of getting one that is less of a jerk.

Yeah, I’ve read the same thing. I guess if I butcher some next spring/summer I will find out. Can Muscovy drakes be pretty mean or rough with females?

Hello Liz.............
(isn't that how folks are addressed during meetings, at least in the movies🤣)
Your girls are beautiful! I love Pekins. My Pekin is hilarious and from what I've seen, they usually have outgoing silly personalities.
In total DAA spirit, just go with Magpies AND Ancona!!! 😂😂😂💜💜💜
Hello 😁

Thank you!! We love our pekin girls, they are definitely outgoing!

I may just do that....my hubby says no more ducks until we get cows...and my response, is always but they are black and white like cows so they are kind like cows! 😉 lol I usually just get an eye roll and head shake 🤣

I hope you can get those ducks soon! I think mapie and ancona ducks are beautiful ducks. I also like your pekins too.

I had a Muscovy drake and he was ok to his females, but he was really mean to my non-muscovy. My pekin was especially picked on. The day I butchered him, she was happiest I had ever seen her in a long time, and no one else missed him. My muscovy females sometimes even go through moods where they pick on the others, but it is always short lived.

If you do butcher any, I would be interested to know what you think.

These are my 4 ducklings. Moved to the brooder this morning. Hoping to get another one or two but not liking my chances. I'm leaving them until Tuesday when I'll turn my incubator off and give it a good clean. Then I'll be putting 4 peacock eggs in so hopefully I'll get a couple of those too.
