We recently raised 5 chickens and 1 duck in a brooder together. We just moved them to a pen and coop. We know our duck is attached to the chickens. Last night we put the chickens in the coop. Duck chirped in distress and the chickens all huddled by the coop window chirping back. We opened the coop door and the chickens flocked to the duck. Will we be able to separate them at night ever? We do have two other ducklings raised separately.

Is it a drake? If not they may do fine together. If a drake he will eventually try to breed with the pullets and could kill or seriously injure them.

Also, like most creatures, they will adjust to being apart from one another. Does the duck have the other two to pal around with or was it completely alone?

All three ducks are together now but the females hang together. We are hoping the first duck will gravitate to the others

Fingers crossed! If there's some treat they especially like you can try giving them treats together and see if that brings them closer.
