Duck Attack Mystery

2 Days ago i stumbled upon the body of my year old Khaki campbell drake in the woods being eaten by a hawk, which flew away as I walked down to the body, I noticed that the head was still attacked and it looked like most of the neck flesh and the base of the neck had been broken into. This happened around midday, and my other 5 ducks were found farther down the stream. The body was found next to the stream, which I know is frequented by raccoons at night. The attack seems more similar to an attack by a raccoon, which maybe was scared away by the hawk. This was a very large bird, and seems like a hawk wouldn't be able to attack and kill it. Is there any possibility it was caused by anything other than a hawk?

It's possible. It's also possible that it was a hawk. Unless you saw it being attacked, you will likely never know. Sorry that you had a loss at all! I hope the rest of your ducks stay safe.
