Duck attacked by coyote ):

let me just do a little update on her. She was doing great and i put her outside a while ago and she has been living out there with her friends again. The only thing i am worried about is that i would think by now she would be okay but she is just weird. She will follow her friends around but she just stands there and does nothing. She isn't acting like a "normal duck". She either stands there blank while the other look for worms and bugs or she is sleeping somewhere. I also noticed the other day that she is shedding feathers alot! She would lay somewhere and there would be feathers everywhere in that spot. I don't know if that is normal or not.
She was nearly killed less than two weeks ago...it sounds to me like she is recovering. I have had ducks with pulled muscles that took nearly a month to completely heal. She was traumatized, and we don't know the extent of her injuries.

There may be a systemic infection going on. She may have internal organs still healing. Molt can be induced in the aftermath of trauma. So I would say she is within the range of normal for a duck that was attacked about ten days ago.

She needs to be watched, as I know you are doing, and you need to be on the lookout for any signs of infection (very warm bill and legs, continued lethargy, really odd-looking stool) and keep giving her good nutrition, fresh water, and TLC.

Yep she seems to be still recovering. As long as she doesn't just lie down and not get up (due to weakness, hunger or thirst), then even if you don't see her eating, she is eating enough to sustain herself during her recovery.

So another update on my girl. She still is not acting right. She is eating and drinking normal but all she seems to want to do is sleep all day. I do not know how long ducks take to fully recover but i am just worried about her. I would have thought she would have recovered better by now. I am guessing maybe she might have a little brain damage from the accident? She walks slow and can barley keep up with the others but always decides to sleep rather than feed in the grass and mud and normal duck stuff. What do you think?
