I have a 2.5 y/o female Pekin duck that has been attacked by either a raccoon or a fox( I say this because both have been seen on my property recently) last night.
we found her this morning. Laying in the bird pen( which is protected by both a regular fence and electric wire at the top and the bottom). She was alert but not fighting me( which she normally would) or running from me. Her feathers were stuck matted down on her back and her nose wasn’t currently bleeding but it HAD been previously.
so I scooped her up and took her inside and put her in a large dog cage on clean unsee red wetsie pads and cleaned her back with somegauze and chlorhexidine and found what appears to be a puncture wound. I cleaned it up and gave her a bowl of water. As far as I know she hasn’t drank anything and I know she hasn’t pooped. But she is really stressed out so I’m trying to leave her be as much as possible. Any other advice?
