Our duck fought off a racoon (we think) Thursday night and today we realized the tip of her beak is missing. Yesterday she seemed okay and ate this morning. She is not eating at the grass anymore and has spent most of the day with her head tucked beneath her wing. She and the other 2 ducks keep to themselves, so catching her would be traumatic and separating her from the other 2 would be traumatic. Are we okay to wait this out? Or does she need to see a vet?

Sorry to hear about the attack!
Obviously a vet is a good option, if you can do it. But personally, I'd give it a day or so and see how she responds. (although it may take a couple days to get in anyway)
Can you get a pic of it? Might depend on how much is gone.
I remember a bill incident not long ago where the bill regenerated fairly well, if i remember right.

X3 or 4?

Examine and pics definitely... isolation may be necessary for healing, but you could keep her near her friends, if they're all in secure housing...

Btw, it will come back and next time the ducks probably won't be so lucky... :(

We looked her over yesterday and didn't see anything else except some scratches on her face (not open wounds, though). She ate and drank this morning.
They are in a fenced yard during the day and enclosed in a coop at night. We re-enforced the doors to the coop and covered the opening where we think the predator (assuming raccoon as we had caught one a few weeks ago) climbed in. They should be very secure.
Thanks for all the feedback!!
