Cotton was attacked by an unknown beast. His bill is injured badly and there are shallow bite marks on his neck. I washed his wounds with just water. He is currently in the bathtub. What do I do? What may have done this to him? PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU!

Sorry this happened to your duck. You can clean the would with just warm water or wash it with water and then apply a watered down iodine solution. You can also put neosporin (without pain killer-no "caine" anything) on it. The problems with ducks is they constantly are getting it wet. I would keep this baby isolated for a while until you are seeing it healing and keep its water as clean as possible while healing. It doesn't look too bad and it should be ok. Hope this helps and maybe someone else can add to this.

Doesn't look to bad- lucky duck. Just clean him up real good, rinse out any punctures with saline and apply neosporine as suggested as well as clean water.....
Was he is a run or free range?

Coons etc can reach in and pull fowl through or parts through the wire. I'd line the run with small hardware cloth wire at least 2ft from the bottom. Clear away anything that critters can climb up on also. Let the dogs out ...... LOL

Awww poor Cotton! It looks painful!

Aspirin dosage usually recommended on BYC, it's 5 regular (325 mg) aspirin (NO SUBSTITUTES) crushed per gallon of water. (or 1 and 1/4 aspirin per quart). Or 1 baby aspirin (81 mg) per cup of water - just be sure you're using pure aspirin and nothing else. And don't mix anything else in the water at the same time without first checking to see if okay.

I hope he gets feeling better soon! He's darling! And I'm sure he's a real sweetie-pie! Darn! Now I want a duck!

Godspeed,

From the small sharp teeth marks I see... I'm thinking some sort of cat. Wild or Domestic or wild/domestic exc. or Maybe a fisher cat/wiesel...

I am going to set a trap in the morning so hopefully I can catch this monster! Cotton doesn't seem to mind that he is all chewed up. Hopefully that means he is not in too much pain. Thanks everyone for the helpful information.
