My beloved 8 week old rouen duckling has an issue with her bill. There is a squishy discolored spot on it that shows through inside her mouth. What is this? What caused it? Is there a cure?

More info: she is in a coop at night, 24/7 access to 3+inch deep water, feeding all flock pellets with supplemental niacin. The spot does not appear to be bothering her, but I fear it will if it gets larger. Still eating, drinking, quacking, running around, etc. The spot has been there for a couple days at least, but I assumed it was just food stuck to her bill until I took a closer look. As far as I can tell, thks is the only spot of this sort on her.

Please help, I don't want her to suffer!

Looks to me, just like a small wound, could have been inflicted by a predator, or, more likely maybe she tripped and hit it on a rock/log, and notched a bit out. With large bill structural wounds, some vets will use super glue and baking soda to make a hard filler, but given the minor damage, that's occurred, I personally wouldn't do anything. I guess if it makes you feel better you could slather an antibiotic ointment on it, but it'll likely just get washed away pretty fast.

That is just my take on this, others might have a different view.

Wouldnt be a bad idea to give a few *updated pictures* in a week.
