Duck behavior toward ducklings

I tried mixing my two adult ducks with some little ones fresh out of the tower at Tractor Supply, and it wasn’t happening!
The drake started pecking at the ducklings very hostile and just all around aggressive towards them. I had to remove the ducklings fast, and put them with my baby chickens.
Hmmmm, I thought maybe because they WASN’T his ducklings???

They’re all fine now and dandy. Idk, maybe when the little ones grow some more, I’ll try introducing them once again.

Be well,

Hey yes they totally start getting along introducing slowly I started with just supervised outdoor play and my female always freaked when they came near - I put them out in her pen at 5-6 weeks I forget but inside a dog cage inside the pen and right away I started seeing her behavior change Since they actually started sleeping in the same area with her. They were getting along great free ranging she started napping with them and swimming in pond with them. I had moments where I kept them separate because they were still eating the grower food and she still goes her own way sometimes to forage but last week I took out the dog cage and the first night they all slept together. Now they have really started staying together more. I know one is def female and one def male he’s cowboy whistling - I’m soooo nervous a third maybe a male but hoping two are female one male so I end up with 3:1 ratio which is perfect. I may see behavioral issues if two male but we will see. Good luck with your ducklings! I think with any pets (hey wait even human) introductions are needed to ease in and build trust first. Thanks
