Duck behavior

Ever since my duck lost her buddy, (not mate just another duckling that was raised with her) she has been coming up to the patio and looking for her and then she does this thing where she gets right in front of me and seems to flatten out and lets me pick her up. Could it be that she wants to be held? Do they mourn when they lose a friend? I mean I feel terrible that she lost her friend( bobcat attack) there is another duck in the yard but they aren't as bonded. If she's asking to be held im happy to oblige haha I'll even be late for work to cuddle a duck
