So yesterday my duck got a bill smashed underneath a patio brick while worm hunting. Today I noticed that it has wrinkles across the top so I'm wondering if it cracked it I read something about super glue and tea bags but I didn't really grasp how to do it. Or if it's even needed for this case I was hoping somebody had some advice and a little bit better description of treatment thank you

There was no bleeding but she was shaking her head like it hurt

I haven’t seen anyone respond to your thread yet, so I’ll do some research. I have some information, but I’ve never personally used it. I’ve read a lot of books and websites about it, and based on the descriptions, I think it might be something you can do. If there’s no bleeding and the bill isn’t severely cracked, you might not need to use super glue right away. The wrinkles could be from bruising or a minor injury, and if it’s not affecting her ability to eat or drink, it might heal on its own.

If you decide to use super glue, first clean the area with a mild antiseptic like diluted betadine. Apply a small amount of medical-grade super glue to seal the crack (if there is one), and place a wet piece of a tea bag on top to help with healing. Hold it gently for a few minutes to let it mold to the crack. Afterward, monitor her closely for any changes or signs of infection.

If the injury seems to worsen, or if she starts having trouble eating or drinking, it’s best to consult a vet.

Thank you so much for responding to my post! I kept her under observation for about half a day. She seemed to be doing a good job of taking care of herself on her own. She didn't root around in the mud with the other ducks, she just floated on the pond and took it easy for a few days. So I knew I wouldn't have to worry about her making the injury worse. Didn't end up needing super glue (thank goodness). I think the fact that the ground was saturated with rain her bill sunk into the mud and lessened the damage she would've sustained had it not been. She's back to her old wobbly self again.
