My female Appleyard duck's bill has a large scrape. Not sure where it came from, they are free range. Also, it started when I brought three two month old female home. They are in the same night enclosure separated by 1" chicken wire. It was just a scrape last week, today it looks a little worse, I am hoping it will heal by itself. Putting antibiotic or something on the bill will be worn off quickly. Any thoughts?

Just a quick note..when my duck got attacked and hurt her bill, I was advised to clean it up with warm water and then put some Neosporin on it. It will need reapplied..but, that’s pretty much what I did with Daisy and she was a bloody mess. But, as @DuckyDonna said @Miss Lydia knows best :)

On a really filthy, debris laden initial injury it may be a good to initially clean, but it also destroys healthy tissue so should be utilized judiciously. That injury does not appear to be particularly dirty. I would not want to destroy any healing tissue.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks!
