Duck bonds.

Hey all,
I hear a lot about pairs of ducks being bonded. Although I have recognized in my own flock apparent preferences (and dislikes) with each other how do you know if ducks are truly bonded with each other? Can it be only two or can it be a group? And does it have to be a female male bond or between two hens? Just curious what everyone's experience is with this or is it an over hyped thing?
Just been thinking about this lately and am simply curious.

Mine are very picky, one of our males has claimed 3 girls, the other male has only One girl. And the other male has one. I think it’s all about pecking order and preference.
