Thanks. She was doing much better Sunday - quacking and breathing through her nostrils...then Sunday night back to open mouth breathing. Couldn't get meds in her Monday evening or today. She pretty much hates me now.

My husband and daughter went to the mountains for a few days so now that she is home she will take over medicine duty.

I'm afraid she may not beat whatever this is.

Don't worry too much about Chips getting upset with you about the medicine. I know how challenging it is, but I promise that Chips will forgive you if she gets better. My ducks follow me around, run to greet me, and even hop into my lap. But when one is getting medicine she will actually run away from me and even refuse to eat from my hand. Thankfully it only takes 1-2 weeks of no medicine for her to realize I'm not going to grab and medicate her and she goes back to normal.

If Chips is going to get better she needs her medicine. So take a deep breath and stick it down her throat as quickly as you can.

*hugs* I know how hard it is. Gingersnap was so upset with me that she started biting me. I cried every day. She never got the chance to forgive me, but the 3 ducks I have left have all been on medication for something and they are as friendly as possible without being imprinted.

I Odered the pill plunger from Amazon it arrived yesterday I believe this will be a easy way to give pill an capsules.

I'm going to call the vet today. We are done with the medication and she is still breathing through her mouth. I am afraid that it is probably fungal. I can't spend more money on vet bills. If the vet thinks another round of antibiotic might help we'll purchase that again, but otherwise I'm not sure what else to do.

There are meds for fungal infections. Hopefully the vet will help.

Sometimes not treating can be the kindest thing to do, even if you aren't considering money.
