We saved this baby duck a few weeks ago and I’m still trying to figure out it’s breed. Hoping someone here knows? Some have told me mallard others a wood duck and some said a Muscovy.

Looks like a wood duck to me.
Any way to sex them at this age besides the vent? I’m leaning towards a girl by the way she’s coloring out but also too soon to tell I believe. Willow is probably about a month old

Definitely wood duck.

Fun fact, muscovy is also considered a wood duck since it perches.
But, look at the pattern on the feet in the pic and your duckling plus the feathering pattern.
What will you do with your wood duck? Are you keeping it?

We have 14 chickens and an Ancona Drake duck. I’d love to keep Willow (I am not sure if boy or girl) but now I know it’s a Wood Duck I have to do more research on it. Willow has bonded with some baby chcikens I have. They think Willow is their momma! If Willow is a Wood Duck though it’ll probably fly away and not stay with the flock but I dunno 😔 I’m happy I saved it but now I have so many questions and a lot of research to do.
