I was planning to order ducklings and wanted to know if anyone had any experience with these breeds and has any cautions for me to keep in mind or other suggestions on breeds to add (breeds that lay colorful eggs would be great)

I started keeping them gor eggs but they have become more pets and I would love to enter some shows (the crested maybe)
What are you looking for? a pet, good eggs, good meat, or all of the above?

Ooh sorry i re read your post ! Cayugas Lay BLACK eggs in the spring i think its amazing

Thankfully all my neighbors are pretty spaced out and the only close one has had ducks chickens and turkeys of his own we have given him eggs before and he never seems to mind when one of ours pay a visit
I have Buffs they are gorgeous they lay good too but they do like to talk so if you have neighbors that maybe bothered by loud quacking might not appreciate it. But sometimes bibery with so fresh eggs can help.

I find my Khaki Campbells to be a bit flighty compared to my Blue Swedish in terms of a skittish personality. They also can actually fly a bit so depending on your fence may need a wing clipped or may be prone to escaping. They can't fly away, but can certainly can get up and over things considerably better than some of the heavier breeds.

I have 2 kc s rn that ive had about a year that don't seem to have any intentions of flying anywhere but I thought about just clipping there wings along my mallards jus

Mine really only make an attempt if sufficiently startled/scared, but they do seem to scare more easily than my other birds!
