Duck Breeds

Yes black Swedish is what she told me. They told me that the others were khaki Campbell's. Are they not? I don't care but would like to know what I have lol. So you think they are blue Swedish?

Man do they love their water lol!! The pine shavings around the water are all wet. Do I need to change it out??

They are blue swedish and black swedish. There is absolutely no khaki campbell in there. Khaki's are brown ducklings, you have blue and yellow ones and black and yellow ones.

Can someone please clarify something for me! Do ducks need niacin?? I bought a multi species chick starter to feed the ducklings. I asked the woman at TSC and she said she didn't think hers ever had niacin. I don't know.

And do I need to watch for pasty butt? Is their stool supposed to be kinda runny??

Sorry for all the questions! :)

There isn't enough niacin in commercial chick feeds for ducklings. Some have no issues without adding some to it, but why try to fix something later when you can just add niacin now and not have to worry about dealing with those problems.
You can do brewers yeast or niacin capsules (not the flush free kind)

If I do brewers yeast, how much do I add into their feeder/ food??
Here are some notes I took, because I wanted to figure it out.

Okay, two tablespoons of brewer's yeast contains 10 mg of niacin, based on this page http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/custom/1323569/2

The guesswork is in how much water a duckling actually ingests in a day. If a duckling actually drinks a half a cup of water a day, it would be getting (16 cups in a gallon, 32 half cups in a gallon . . . . 150 divided by 30, more or less) 5 mg of niacin from water with 150 mg niacin per gallon. Which would be about a tablespoon of brewer's yeast.

Ok well right now their water container is a quart. So should I take a gallon jug and mix one tablespoon of brewers yeast with the water and once mixed just use that jug to fill their quart container??

How often do they get this? Everyday, once a week??
