duck cake?

ok so i know bread is not healthy for ducks but could each of my ducks have 1 piece of bread with mealworms and corn on top for their birthday? if you have any ideas for a cake for ducks feel free to comment. we wanted to get them live minnows but all shops are closed down due to quarantine...

Yes, that will be fine. As a more healthy alternative, you could use eggs mixed with some peas/mealworms. Tell your ducks I said happy birthday!

our ducks are weird, they won’t eat peas!! they don’t get bread much, besides each getting a bite every once in a while, but it’s their favorite treat
they like the weirdest things though, they love their turmeric supplements and freeze dried minnows only (but not live)

Are you sure they are ducks? lol. Treats like that are ok for occasions just don't make it a weekly thing.

they get bread very rarely. they won’t even eat the “flock party” corn and mealworm mix and will only eat those things seperate lol

Bread is not bad for ducks. I recently read that ducks can have feed that consists of up to 45% bread, though of course the rest of the feed would have to be stuff with complementary nutrients. I think my source was the USDA, sorry I can't find it.

Wild ducks living in park ponds in very densely populated areas can get too much bread because there are so many people feeding the ducks. Outside of major cities, there is no problem feeding bread to wild ducks occasionally.

When I give bread to my ducks, I cut it up into bite-sized pieces, and I usually soak it with a liquid (excess milk or broth).

Same here, my Duckies eat our stale bread on a regular base and have not shown any sign of malnutrition. @TomCahalan is correct, ducks in urban ponds are being overfed by all these well meaning people. It is like us, only eating french fries and eating a serving here and there.

that’s why i always buy corn for the wild ducks ($10 for a 50 pound bag and it is better than bread)
