Help I don’t know what to do! My white female duck is six years old and can’t poop. She laid an egg yesterday and this morning I found her and she was full of mud and her butt is dripping blood. I filled a tub with warm quarter and let her swim for a few mins. What else can I do? Any ideas on what even happened?

Welcome To BYC

I'm very sorry about your Duck. I don't know a lot about ducks, but it looks like she is prolapsed badly.
I honestly don't know if a prolapse that bad is fixable. Personally, I would put her down, but if you want to try, then do what you can to keep the exposed tissue moist. You can use anti-inflammatory cream, coconut oil, honey, preparation H or similar.

I'm going to tag in some folks that know more about Ducks.

Thank you for your advice! I’m considering letting her go but it will be hard. If she doesn’t get better in a few days then I defiantly will have to.

Definitely take her to the vet. A prolapse that bad means she is suffering terribly. I would strongly consider euthanasia if you cannot get her to a vet immediately. I am very sorry you and your girl are going through this :hugs

As of night she sleeps outside usually, should she sleep outside or inside? Also should I give her hay or shavings?

This morning she tried to poop and couldn’t and I’ve been watching her this evening and she hasn’t tried yet.

Ideally you want to keep her inside so bugs are getting on that exposed tissue. The tissue needs to stay moist as well.
I would place her on puppy pads to keep her cleaner.

You do realize that what you are seeing is her insides correct? They have prolapsed outside of her body.
If she's not able to eliminate waste, that means it's likely strangling the intestines as well. Birds poop a lot, so not being able to poop she will likely die of infection or sepsis.
